Certificate of Fitness

Atlantic Suzuki provides Certification of Fitness (COF), an essential official document that confirms a boat or watercraft meets all necessary safety, operational, and regulatory standards required for legal use on South African waters. This certificate is a key requirement for compliance with maritime laws and is typically valid for a set period, after which it must be renewed.

The COF is issued only after a comprehensive inspection of the vessel, which includes checking the hull integrity, steering and fuel systems, flotation devices, navigation lights, and the presence and condition of mandatory safety equipment such as life jackets, fire extinguishers, distress signals, and first aid kits. Our experienced team ensures that every aspect of the boat is thoroughly assessed and meets the criteria set out by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) or relevant authorities.
